This story is of a brave individual chose to display sheer resilience in the face of discrimination and countless obstacles that life threw his way.
Born to a Muslim family , Mr Wasif of Kesarpur, Cuttack, earns his bread and butter by working for 8 hours everyday at our tailoring institute.
Wasif was trained in Mumbai, Maharashtra to be a tailor and came to Cuttack, Odisha in early 20’s, to start working and was managing to make his ends meet. However, with growing demand for ready-made garments and branded apparels, he struggled to compete and lost his ground.
People were moving towards ready-made apparels and branded clothing. This made it really difficult for him to pay his employees or to pay the rent of the shop. He moved to a dilapidated shop.
In an effort to battle such issues head on Saksham Parivartan has launched Mission “Saksham”. Under this programme, our team reached Mr. Wasif and enrolled him into our programme and an entire new shop was set up and new machines were set up. With new paraphernalia he moved in his new shop. He now trains budding entrepreneurs from the institute and also earns his livelihood.
